How to Remove Blank Pages from a PDF for Free (No Upload, No Signup)

I have a stack of scanned contracts that came in with lots of blank pages at the end. Each one was maybe 5MB — mostly empty pages from printer margins. The file looked messy when I tried to email it to anyone.

The fastest way to clean it up is to remove those blank pages before you send. That's what this tool does.

What is PDF blank page removal?

Blank page removal scans each page of your PDF and deletes pages that contain little or no visible content — text, images, or shapes. It's useful when:

  • Scanned documents accidentally include extra blank pages

  • Exported files have blank pages at the end

  • You want to shrink a PDF by removing unused pages

Unlike page deletion tools where you manually select which pages to remove, blank page detection does the heavy lifting automatically.

How to Use It

Go to en.sotool.top/remove-blank-pages.

  1. Open the page

  2. Upload your PDF

  3. The tool scans each page and highlights blank ones

  4. Review the results — uncheck any you want to keep

  5. Download the cleaned-up file

Everything runs locally in your browser. No upload, no signup.

How Blank Page Detection Works

The tool uses pixel analysis to decide whether a page is blank. Here's the logic in simple terms:

  1. Render the page onto a canvas

  2. Count the number of non-white pixels

  3. Compare against a threshold — if less than a small percentage of the page has content, mark as blank

  4. Repeat for every page

This works well for:

  • Pages that are truly empty

  • Pages with only faint scan noise

  • Pages with mostly whitespace and tiny margins

It might miss:

  • Very lightly printed pages (a single faint line or watermark could register as "not blank")

  • Pages with invisible content (hidden layers, watermarks that don't render visually)

That's why the tool shows you a preview before deleting anything, so you can double-check.

Settings You Can Adjust

Blank Sensitivity — Low, Medium, High

  • Low: Only removes pages that are almost entirely empty. Safest option, won't delete pages with faint content.

  • Medium: The default balance. Catches typical blank pages from scans.

  • High: Aggressive. Will also remove pages with very light text or minimal content.

Include Transparent Pages — On/Off

Some PDFs have transparent or nearly-transparent pages that look blank but technically contain rendering data. This toggle lets you include them in the removal.

Before and After Example

Before: A 50-page scan with blank pages inserted after pages 5, 12, 18, 30, and 41. File size: 15 MB.

After: 45 pages removed. File size: 13 MB. Pages 5–6 and 40–41 now flow together naturally. No missing content.

The file size savings aren't huge because the removed pages were mostly empty white space. But the document looks much cleaner and is faster to navigate.

Why Browser-Based Matters

Auto-detect blank pagesRarely
Preview before deleteSometimes

When your document contains contracts or personal information, you don't want to upload it just to find a few blank pages.

When You Might Need More

For occasional blank page cleanup, this tool is enough. If you need:

  • Batch processing hundreds of files

  • Detecting near-blank pages (pages with only headers/footers)

  • Integrating blank page removal into an automated workflow

Then a desktop solution like Wondershare PDFelement is worth considering.

Summary

  1. Go to en.sotool.top/remove-blank-pages

  2. Upload your PDF

  3. Choose sensitivity level

  4. Review which pages will be removed

  5. Download the cleaned PDF

Try it the next time a scanned document comes with unwanted blank pages.
